The gain was inevitable - but it is ooookay

Friday, May 30, 2008

I was back up to 196 today. But after 4 days (Memorial Day weekend) of not tracking my food and the dreaded (but makes for a great excuse!) water weight gain, I wasn't surprised . . . and I'm determined to make up for it at the next weigh in.

As for the Wii Fit, I continue to be impressed by how it motivates me. It is so FUN I don't realize I'm exercising. I LOVE IT. Best money I've spent. (Yes MizFit, you NEED one.)

My two favorite activities (that I've unlocked so far . . .) are the step aerobics and the boxing. Both of these activities involve rhythm and music and I'm a frustrated dancer anyway.

My goal for this next week is to get up early every morning and use the Wii Fit. My problem this past week has been working it in whenever I have a few minutes and so the measurements have been all out of whack because I've done it at various times, instead of the same time every day. I have to start making this as much of a priority as watching what I eat. I also found this information about the best time of day to exercise, and I totally agree.

I also found an enlightening blog online about a guy who used the Wii Fit for several weeks before his wedding and journaled about his experience. The final report is here. Check it out.

Finally - I have another Healthy Food Find. I tried a different South Beach Wrap Kit.

The Southwestern Style Chicken Wrap Sandwich Kit is AWESOME. I like it almost as much as the Sesame Wrap Kit. And this one is good both warmed up or cold. I've become a salsa addict of late, so this feeds into that rather well. :-) This yummy meal has 240 Calories, 11 g of fat,
15 g of fiber, and 25 g of protein. (Quite a bit of sodium, so don't eat this every day!) Try it - you'll find it in the lunch meat section of the grocery.

Everyone have a GREAT weekend and keep on striving to be healthy!

Memorial Day FOOD

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

For the first time since March 1st, I didn't track my food for FOUR days. I don't think I did TOO bad, but I've already prepared myself for a gain on Friday. And that's okay. I'm going to have those MOMENTS. As long as I don't let myself slip back into the land where food is #1, I will be okay.

I am back on track now and I've been exercising for 30 minutes almost every day. (I LOOOVE my Wii Fit.)

And tonight - I went to get a new pair of capris and they were NOT PLUS SIZE!!! Woohoo!!! Yay me.

I hope all of you are back on track after the holiday ritual of stuffing our faces with grilled food. Have a wonderful evening!!

Wii Fit is kicking my butt

Sunday, May 25, 2008

And I had the pictures to prove it - until I accidentally hit the wrong button and deleted them! I HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS.

I have used the Wii Fit every day since I bought it - and I have been feeling the results. Honestly.

The coolest part, in my opinion, is that it helps you to focus on your center of balance and your core while doing each exercise - which I feel makes a huge difference in the workout you get. The other cool part is how it keeps track of how many minutes you've exercised and the more you work out, the more things you can unlock - so you are naturally working up to longer workouts as you go along. Pretty cool!!

I will try my best to get my hubby to take some more pictures - and I'll get some fun ones of the kids playing. I will try not to delete them this time.

Have a happy Memorial Day weekend, and don't eat too much!

Still going down!

Friday, May 23, 2008

This morning I weighed in at 194.4. Total loss - 23.6 pounds.

I have had a weird thing happen to me this week, though. I'm tired of food. At first, I was excited about all the different things I could try that tasted good but were still healthy - now I'm kind of in a food 'rut'. Nothing ever looks good and a few days I haven't eaten all the Points I should, because I just didn't feel like eating anything else.

I guess I should be happy - I've never had this kind of problem. I have always loved food!

I'm sure this issue will go away - I just need a new Healthy Food Find to excite me all over again.

Have any of you ever had this issue? Where you are really just BORED with food? What did you do to get out of it? Any of you have any new Healthy Food Finds you want to share?

This weekend - I will post more Wii Fit updates! Have an awesome Memorial Day weekend!

I have it!

Thursday, May 22, 2008

In the interest of letting someone know how I'm doing with my new purchase, I thought I'd better post something.

Yes, I bought the Wii Fit yesterday. It was easy to set up and pretty educational. The Wii gives you information about the importance of good posture and balance. After entering my information, the Wii Balance board weighs me and figures out my weight and BMI, and then shows how your center of balance measures up. Mine is a little to the right. ;-) I then did the initial balance test and had my Wii Fit age figured at 42!!! 42!!! (I'm 32.) But after playing around with the different games and exercises, I re-took the test and got it back down to 29! Woohoo!

I like what I've seen so far as I can keep track of how much I exercise and how my body changes over time. The yoga exercises kicked me in the butt - but I'm really out of shape.

I hope to get my hubby to take some pictures of the game in action over the weekend and post an update then. I'll let you know if regular use of this new exer-game actually makes a difference!

Have a great day!

Tomorrow!

The new Nintendo Wii Game, Wii Fit is supposed to hit store shelves tomorrow. I am excited as I've had mine pre-ordered for a couple months now. I am hoping this will help me jump start my fitness goals. I'm a geek and I love spreadsheets and charts - so I think this will help me as the Wii helps you keep track of these things.

What do you think? Are you planning on purchasing a Wii Fit? I look forwarding to posting my thoughts, reviews, and progress.

10% Goal Met

Friday, May 16, 2008

I have now officially lost 10% of my starting body weight. Yay. It feels good. I do notice that I'm feeling better and my clothes are getting baggier.

Now that I've met my first big weight loss goal - I have to start incorporating more exercise. I have been trying to park far away from stores when I shop, I walk up and down the stairs myself (rather than making the kids fetch things for me), and I've been walking around the neighborhood in the evenings as weather permits. My knees haven't been bothering me as much, which is awesome.

I had an "Oh My Gosh" moment this week as I compared Mother's Day pictures from last year, to this year. I would share them here, but I don't think I can bring myself to do it. I cannot believe what I looked like in last year's pictures. Wow. It was not very pretty. This year's picture isn't so bad and I can even tell that I'm happier and healthier in the picture.

I am on my way. I know I still have a long road ahead. But this is the first time in my life that I really feel like I've made a change in my habits and the way that I view food.

How are all of you doing this week?

I hit the 20 pound mark.

Friday, May 9, 2008

I was really hoping to meet my 10% goal (losing 10% of my starting body weight) today, but I missed it by .4 of a pound. Oh well. I can be happy in the fact that I've lost over 20 pounds now and I'm still on track.

I need to start exercising more - but this week has been hectic and I wasn't feeling the greatest. It is hard to exercise when all you want to do is SLEEP! :-) I know, excuses, excuses . . .

Here is my progress chart so far:

March 1 - 218
March 7 - 210.8
March 14 - 209.4
March 21 - 207.2
March 28 - 205.2
April 4 - 207.4
April 11 - 202.4
April 18 - 203
April 25 - 199.6
May 2 - 198.4
May 9 - 196.6

Total LOSS - 21.4 pounds!!!

In my next post - I will reflect on why this time, everything feels different to me.

How are all of you doing!

Awesome Yummy Healthy Food

Wednesday, May 7, 2008

Okay - I have another favorite thing . . .

South Beach Living Sesame Chicken Wrap Sandwich Kit. OH . . . MY . . .

Even though the wheat tortillas are small, the chicken is awesome and the sesame sauce is to die for. I honestly could eat this for lunch just about every day.

The best part? It has 220 calories, 21 grams of protein, and 15 grams of fiber! How awesome is that????

I found these in Wal-mart in the lunch meat section where you find Lunchables for kids.

You Must Try These.

Seriously.

Yeehah!

Friday, May 2, 2008

I'm down another 1.2 pounds, even though I ate a donut yesterday and had a piece of BROASTED chicken. On top of all of that, I'm even dealing with water weight gain (dang, I hate being a woman sometimes . . .) Of course, the difference was - I didn't give into the urge to eat SIX donuts or a WHOLE chicken.

I did, however, track everything I ate, drank tons of water, and even got in some exercise this week, so it must have paid off.

I was so happy that the dreaded 200 did not come back to haunt me this week as I was sure it would!
So, it has been 2 months and I've lost almost 20 pounds (19.6 to be exact.) And it really has not been that difficult. I really am starting to believe that it has a LOT to do with your mindset -- if it is a 'diet' it isn't going to work. If you are convinced that you are making a lifestyle change, it really makes a huge difference!

I'm really close to my first WW goal of losing 10% of my body weight!

"You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
You are the guy who'll decide where to go."
~Dr. Seuss

Have a great weekend!
